Bruntwood, the family-owned commercial property developer, has announced a new name for City House in Leeds. The landmark building, which sits above the city’s mainline railway station, is undergoing a major redevelopment and once completed will be known as Platform.

The new name is derived from the principles behind the building’s redevelopment, creating a new platform for business success for companies of all shapes and sizes. According to Craig Burrow, Bruntwood’s director for Leeds, the new name is indicative of the aspiration for the development, both from the city’s and Bruntwood’s perspective:

“Platform is a major strategic development for Leeds, standing as it does at one of the city’s major gateways. It’s also a major development in the type of workspace that Bruntwood offers, creating an environment where companies and individuals can network and connect with each other, providing added impetus to business creativity and growth."

Connectivity of all kinds – physical, digital and social – is the core idea behind Platform. This reinvention of the former British Railway offices will deliver 120,000 sq ft of space, offering co-working desks, studio offices and larger, bespoke workspaces tailored to meet the needs of large businesses, small and growing companies and individual entrepreneurs, all within a shared environment.

The future-proof workspace will give businesses the flexibility to grow and develop, providing state of the art digital connectivity, communal lounges, meeting and event spaces, and a roof garden with some of the best views of the city.

Work on the redevelopment of Platform is well underway, with completion due by May 2017.
