Small business support group Enterprise Nation has today announced it has opened a base in Manchester to deliver support to firms in the North West.

The firm, which announced investment in 2018 from York-based HomeServe entrepreneur Richard Harpin, will operate from offices in Lowry House, Marble Street, and has recruited new staff to accelerate its training and reach as part of its national expansion.

The move is also part of its ongoing partnership with leading city-based workspace provider Bruntwood Works, announced last year.

Emma Jones, founder of Enterprise Nation, said: “Figures show the number of people looking to start and grow a business is growing exponentially, and Manchester is at the heart of that emerging culture. At a time when so many businesses in Britain are looking to expand what they are doing and become more profitable, we feel the time is right to scale our operation into the North West to be ready to help businesses reach their goals.”

According to the Centre for Entrepreneurs, the number of companies formed in Manchester in 2018 rose by 5.2 per cent to 9,107, the second highest city outside of London.[1]

Andrew Butterworth, commercial director at Bruntwood Works said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Enterprise Nation to their new base. Enterprise Nation is a brilliant organisation that is really well aligned with the needs of ambitious, fast-growing SMEs and we’re delighted to be deepening our partnership with their team.

“Alongside the right workspace, having the right community in place is key to ensuring businesses get access to support, events and advice - and we know this helps them grow faster and more. At Bruntwood Works, we’re committed to creating vibrant communities and enabling valuable connections that help businesses to thrive and our links with organisations like Enterprise Nation are key to this vision.”

Enterprise Nation is already set to run a series of events focused on how to find funding, how to navigate Making Tax Digital as well as marketing and social media. As part of its expansion, this programme will be extended with the addition of monthly meet-ups in Bruntwood spaces, plus bringing some of the firm’s well known national events to the city such as The Exchange series and Meet The Journalists which connect small businesses with buyers and journalists. Year-round support via the company’s online platform will also be made available to more businesses in the region.
