A highly-acclaimed pizza restaurant has opened at Queen Avenue on Castle Street, Liverpool.

Rudy’s Pizzeria, recently named the best pizza restaurant in the UK by Trip Advisor, follows the ethos of a true independent artisan operator producing quality Neapolitan pizza. Its humble values, ‘Local Artisan’ approach and focus on local suppliers has helped Rudy’s to create a name for itself around the world in a short amount of time, having originated in the heart of ‘Little Italy’ Ancoats in Manchester in 2015.

The firm will now bring its critically-acclaimed pizza to Liverpool for the first time with a 120-cover restaurant featuring stripped back industrial style decor with a traditional pizza oven at its heart, cultivating a relaxed environment where passionate Pizzaiolos continue to follow the traditions and artistry of pizza from Naples, the birthplace of pizza.

Queen Avenue is Liverpool’s last remaining Victorian arcade and is part of Queen Insurance Buildings, which is owned by Bruntwood. The new Rudy’s occupies a 6000 sq ft space on Castle Street that was previously home to CAU.

Rudy’s makes its dough on site each day, taking 24 hours to double ferment and just 60 seconds to cook, creating soft, light and floppy pizza ready to be enjoyed instantaneously by folding or with a knife and fork.

The pizzeria has achieved critical acclaim. New international guidebook, Where to Eat Pizza, describes it as “Now one of the best places to eat pizza in the world”, The Guardian voted Rudy’s as one of the top ten pizzas in the UK. Meanwhile, Hardens Guide said it was “Now one of the best places to eat pizza in the UK’ and Rudy’s recently claimed the top spot in the ‘Top 10 pizza restaurants in the UK’ by Trip Advisor following a raft of positive reviews.

Andrea George, head of retail and leisure at Bruntwood, said: “Rudy’s has come a long way in a short space of time, evolving from humble beginnings to quickly establish itself as a top-class artisan pizza retailer.

“I have no doubt they will continue their success in Liverpool, supported by the growing sense of community that exists among the mix of retail and leisure operators along Queen Avenue.”

In-keeping with its relaxed environment, Rudy’s is a walk-in restaurant only and does not operate with a booking system.
